Trump calls reporter 'rude, terrible person' at press conference following midterm elections

At a White House press conference on Wednesday afternoon, President Trump first discussed the mixed midterm results in a flat tone.

The CNN reporter continued to hold the microphone to ask a question about the Russian Federation investigation while Trump tried to move on to another reporter.

A reporter suggests to Trump that the migrant caravan is not "an invasion" but rather migrants slowly moving through Mexico towards the USA border.

Finally, Trump snapped at Acosta. "You are a rude, bad person, you shouldn't be working for CNN".

He then berated Acosta for the way he questioned White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in briefings.

Never a tiresome moment.

But as Trump answered, Acosta repeatedly interjected and went back and forth with Trump over how the White House had characterized the caravan.

Acosta then attempted to ask a follow-up question, only to be told by the president, "That's enough".

Midterm election results due following volatile campaign
If history is any guide, the party of a president with that level of support is in for a rough time in a mid-term election. We should also expect to hear speeches from US Senator Elizabeth Warren and Governor Charlie Baker around now.

"I tell you what, CNN should be ashamed of itself having you working for them", he said.

"You shouldn't treat people that way", Trump says.

"Will you please sit down?" he shouted at the CNN reporter.

"Well, I'm not a big fan of yours either", Trump quipped, adding, "You aren't the best". The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is awful. He gave a lengthy overview of the races, said the GOP did pretty well, as Democrats didn't have a wave year as they did in 2006-and then opened it up for questions.

"CNN is fake news", Trump said.

As more clashes with reporters followed, Trump, exasperated but energized, summed up what is sure to be repeated at the rallies where chants of "CNN sucks!" have become a favorite chorus.

"We did this in spite of a dramatic funding disadvantage driven by Democrats' wealthy donors, special interests, and very hostile media coverage to put it mildly".
