Facebook to roll out "unsend" feature in Messenger

Whether it's reaching out to an ex in a moment of weakness or making a poor emoji choice, many of us have hit "send" on a message only to regret it seconds later.

Mark Zuckerberg was caught out earlier this when it was found he, and other high-level Facebook execs, had the ability to erase messages they had sent to other people's inboxes.

Conflicting message aside, it would seem like a pretty tight window, compared to the implementation by other apps.

A new "Unsend" feature will be included in version 191.0 of the iOS Messenger app, according to the release notes for the update.

Google's for Gmail allows users to choose how long they have to unsend an email.

While 10 minutes is certainly better than nothing, Verge points out that the Facebook-owned WhatsApp allows up to an hour to take back messages.The deletion feature was first spotted in mid-October. Maybe you sent a picture to someone you didn't want to. It's unclear at this time whether the feature will work both on mobile and on desktop, but it would make sense for Facebook to offer the same messaging experience across platforms.

At the time of the discovery, when editing messages already sent in a conversation, the "Unsend Message" option will appear.
