The judge expressed his sympathy for Mr Ratelband's argument, conceding legally changing sex was unthinkable just a few years ago.

A Dutch businessman is making waves after he launched a legal battle to officially roll back his age 20 years - claiming he is a "young god" and dating apps discriminate against him due to his age.

The entrepreneur and self-help guru is suing his local authority after they refused the amend his age on official documents.

He has gone to court in hopes of getting a court to change his birth certificate to say he was born on March 11, 1969 instead of his actual date of birth, March 11, 1949.

Mr Ratelband said his legal appeal is consistent with other forms of personal transformation that are gaining acceptance and government recognition in his country and around the world.

"When I'm 69, I am limited", said Ratelband. "If I'm 49, then I can buy a new house, drive a different vehicle", he said.

"So when I ask for a mortgage, for example, they say it's impossible", he said.

'When I'm on Tinder and it says I'm 69, I don't get an answer. He says that with his youthful face and an age of 49, he would get more dates, possibly with younger women.

Ratelband argues in his lawsuit that since transgender people can legally change their gender, he should be able to change his age.

The Dutchman said he is discriminated against because of his age, and that he encounters problems in society on a daily basis. His case has already been heard and the court should issue a verdict within a couple of weeks.

He complains that companies are reluctant to hire someone the age of a pensioner as a consultant.

Ratelband insists that he feels 20 years younger than 69, and that he's even willing to postpone his pension benefits by 20 years.

His case resembles in some ways that of Rachel Dolezal, a white woman in the United States who identified herself as black after she was raised by religious parents who had adopted four black children. "Who was that little boy?" he was quoted as saying.

The pensioner has said he is ready to give up his pension if the court agrees to let him change his age.

Ratelband said during the prosecutor told him "we need to know your biological age to control you", which he said is "exactly the problem".
