Splintered migrant caravan groups arrive at US border

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced it was closing four lanes at the busy San Ysidro and Otay Mesa ports of entry in San Diego, California.

"CBP has been and will continue to prepare for the potential arrival of thousands of people migrating in a caravan heading towards the border of the United States", Pete Flores, director of San Diego field operations for Customs and Border Protection, said Monday in a statement.

As with the others, the LGBT faction are hoping to get political asylum either at the San Ysidro or Otay Mesa ports of entry. Trump has insinuated without proof that there are criminals or even terrorists in the group.

"We are waiting for our representative", the unidentified migrant said.

On Thursday, the group voted to proceed from Mexico City, where they'd been gathered several days, to Tijuana, opting for the longer but less risky route. He was staying at the same tent shelters set up for the first caravan at a sports stadium in Mexico City.

But things were especially tough for the first caravan. He said so far 24 buses had left Escuinapa on an eight-drive to Navojoa in Sonora state.

Many other caravans have been organized and are on the move. LGBTQ migrants in the larger caravan made a decision to take their fates into their own hands and figure out a way to more quickly arrive in Tijuana'.

But migrants planning to seek asylum in the United States said they were undeterred by the crackdown.

"There was never any suggestion of supporting them economically", Sandoval said.

"Everyone has the freedom to do what they want with their lives", he later told the Thomson Reuters Foundation.

Authorities were struggling to deal with the group of 357 migrants who arrived in Tijuana aboard nine buses Tuesday and immediately went to a stretch of border fence to celebrate.

He said: "It's not possible to live in Honduras and provide for your family".
