Mohamed Salah named 6th in 2018 Ballon d’Or, Firmino at 19th

Real Madrid and Croatia midfielder Luka Modric said he was "happy, proud and honoured" after being named victor of the 2018 men's Ballon d'Or on Monday.

He was huge as Real Madrid won the Champions League and an inspiring captain and midfield force in driving Croatia to the World Cup final. He was also voted the European Best Player earlier in the year.

Ronaldo's former Real Madrid teammate Luka Modric was awarded the gong ahead of the Portuguese at last night's ceremony.

Luka Modric has won the 2018 Ballon d'Or award with the Croat dominating the voting system accumulating 753 points.

The inaugural women's award was also handed out on Monday with Ada Hegerberg of Olympique Lyonnais claiming the honour.
