Pregnant Meghan Markle Makes Surprise Solo Appearance in London

The Duchess of Sussex made an announced solo visit to the King's College London on Wednesday, December 5.

Michelle Obama and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex met in London during a stop on the former United States first lady's book tour for her new memoir Becoming, according to reports in the Evening Standard and Harper's Bazaar.

The event was conducted in effort to help students and leaders collaborate on ways to use higher education as a means to "build a better world", according to the ACU's website. Meghan was photographed sitting during the discussions, taking notes.

The duchess chose the Lover's Knot, a diamond and pearl encrusted piece that dates back to 1914, previously preferred by her late mother-in-law Princess Diana. During her royal tour of Fiji with husband Prince Harry in October, the Suits alum delivered a speech about women's education.

The meeting followed hot on the heels of Michelle's sage advice, directed at Meghan, about coping with her public role in an interview with Good Housekeeping magazine.

The Duchess' unannounced outing came the day after she and Harry attended a charity carol service that was held in support of the Henry Van Straubenzee Memorial Fund.

The service is a regular date in the royal calendar and commemorates Henry van Straubenzee, a childhood friend of Harry's who died in a vehicle crash aged 18 in 2002.
