Kevin Hart knows some people are upset over Tuesday's announcement that he will host the 2019 Oscars - and he thinks they need to get over it. Backlash over Hart's gig ensued when an old joke about not wanting a gay son resurfaced online.

Representatives for the Academy, which organizes the Oscars, did not immediately respond to EW's request for comment on Hart's decision to step down.

"This is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many awesome talented artists", Hart wrote. "I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past". "I don't know what to tell you", Hart said.

Just a day later, a journalist by the name of Benjamin Lee said on the 5th of December that he wondered how long it would take Kevin before he started deleting all of his old messages.

The post comes less than two hours after the comic defiantly said he would not apologize in a video he shared to Instagram, claiming that he'd "addressed this several times" over the years and didn't feel he needed to do so again.

Hart has since deleted some of the anti-gay tweets, mostly dated from 2009-2011.

In his video, the comedian says that he will "pass on the apology". Wrong Eniko, I'm judging him right now.

Wilder will try to avoid rematch at all costs, says Fury
However, the fight never materialised, and Wilder took on Fury in Los Angeles instead. "But I didn't see any folding, Ben". With his fighter's reputation enhanced, Warren told Press Association Sport: "You'd think they'd want the rematch".

Capping a swift fallout, Hart wrote on Twitter just after midnight Friday that he was withdrawing as Oscars host because he didn't want to be a distraction.

On Thursday, Hart wrote on Instagram that critics should "stop being negative" after years-old tweets surfaced in which he used gay slurs.

But would he still be busy loving his kids if one of them came out as gay? Even though Hart is now deleting the offending tweets, one imagines he hasn't had a change of, ahem, heart about them. What hasn't happened is an apology - not even your typical statement of regret and an assurance of "that was me then, and I'm a different person now". If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me. "I'm nearly 40 years old".

Earlier this week, it was announced that Hart would be this year's Oscars host. "We feed the internet trolls and we reward them".

As noted by Rolling Stone, Hart previously said during his 2010 "Seriously Funny" stand-up that "one of my biggest fears is my son growing up and being gay".

It is unclear who may replace Hart for the annual awards show. 'Like I tweeted a few weeks ago, Hollywood still has a real problem with gay men.
