Ocasio-Cortez Promises $15-an-hour Intern "Living Wage" (Math & Economics Disagree)

While the office of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said its recent posting for unpaid internships was "made in error" and announced paid positions will be announced in January, fellow NY lawmaker in the House, Rep. -elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, declared Tuesday night that it's time for Democrats to "walk the walk" on paying Capitol Hill interns a living wage and said that her office will pay $15 per hour "at least" for those who come to work for her.

Additionally, the defense and health care numbers are based on different timeframes, with the Nation piece referring to decades worth of questionable accounting maneuvers, while the Medicare for All cost estimate is based on total spending on health care over 10 years.

The eldest son of President Trump posted the meme Thursday night for his 1.5 million Instagram followers - and Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Friday in response that he was just trying to distract attention from special prosecutor Robert Mueller's probe into Russian election meddling.

"She cited the $21 trillion figure and said '66% of Medicare for All could have been funded already by the Pentagon, '" they noted.

Ocasio-Cortez's tweet on Monday came after a reporter said that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, another New York Democrat, is hiring an unpaid intern.
