Frenkie De Jong set for PSG switch with summer move 'almost certain'

The 21-year-old Dutch worldwide has impressed at club and global level this year, alerting the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City to his talents.

But in an interview with The Guardian, de Jong said it isn't a given that he will move on next summer.

De Jong has been compared to Dutch great Johan Cruyff in terms of his talent, even if his specific skillset means he is not the same kind of player.

"Frenkie is guaranteed to stay with Ajax until the summer and I cannot say anything about it".

The Dutch midfielder, along with his team mate Matthijs De Light and PSG's Adrien Rabiot are amongst the LaLiga club's top priorities as they look to strengthen their squad for next season.

"I don't know yet what I will do at the end of the season, whether I will stay for an extra year or if I will join another club - and if so, which club that will be". But I am not sure, ' he told the paper.

Expounding on the transfer speculation, in particular the stories surrounding a big-money bid from Ligue 1 champions PSG, he added: "It's an issue since the start of the season".

And de Jong has admitted he himself is an admirer of Guardiola's passing-based style of football.

"Honestly, he is very welcome in Paris!" I said to him as much, because he would be enormous for us.

"But that's been the case for a long time now. After that, he will make his own choice".
