Both numbers are growing, as various factions of YouTube culture continue to battle over which video deserves this dubious honour.

YouTube Rewind 2018 has now been disliked more than 10 million times by users of the platform, taking it past the official music video for Justin Bieber's 2010 song Baby.

In the week since it was uploaded, the 2018 round-up, called Everyone Controls Rewind, has been disliked 11 million times, in comparison to 2.2 million likes.

With so much anger around the video, some creative heads even took the effort to make alternate versions of YouTube Rewind and how it should have been.

"The "problem" with YouTube Rewind is pretty simple, actually - the delta between what creators/audiences expect and what YouTube wants to show has never been more clear", he said. It features the top YouTubers and the video usually gets hundreds of millions of views.

It has nearly 10.1 million "dislikes", with more than 82% of its viewers saying they did not enjoy it.

"YouTube 'Rewind, ' in a way, turned into a giant ad for YouTube", Brownlee added.

Marques Brownlee who stars in the 2018 YouTube Rewqind video has created his own video with his thoughts on it, this one if a better watch than the YouTube one.

One of the major issues with this year's YouTube Rewind, according to prominent members of the YouTube community, is that some of the platform's biggest stars, like PewDiePie, Shane Dawson, and Logan Paul are completely omitted from the video.

Brownlee in a series of tweets explained why the video was getting negative criticism. And PewDiePie, who lost the support of Disney and YouTube in 2017 after media reports on the Nazi jokes on his channel, has remained the platform's biggest creator.

For the first group, "Rewind" is supposed to be a look back at the biggest moments and creators of the past year on the platform. Huge YouTube moments, like the popular livestreamed this past August, were also ignored.
