Second Dinner, a new studio formed of ex-Hearthstone and World of Warcraft devs, has announced that it's working on a new Marvel game.

Crystal Dynamics are also now working on a new Marvel game based on the Avengers, which was announced back in 2017. "And that's money in hand with no need to sing and dance for milestone payments or desperately try to find new investors along the way".

In other words, you can safely assume this will be a mobile-first game, but there are still plenty of questions to answer, the most important being which Marvel IP it centres around. Both left developer Blizzard Entertainment about eight months ago. Additionally, Second Dinner has received a $30 million minority investment from NetEase, which has allowed the team to move into a new office space in Irvine, California.

"It's going to take us a while to make, but we're already having a lot of fun with the prototype", said Hamilton Chu, the CEO of Second Dinner CEO and former executive producer on Hearthstone, in the announcement. Second Dinner says this is enough to fully fund its first project, meaning it only has to worry about creating a quality Marvel game. It's going to be unbelievable! Considering the team's previous experience working on the collectible online card game Hearthstone, and its current small size, it's possible the game could be mobile or PC-centric. We can't wait to show it to the people who we interview as candidates.

Second Dinner is also looking to hire a client engineer and a technical artist for their upcoming venture. Or Mighty! Or quite possibly all of the above!'

We'll see when it gets announced... at some point?

He added: "They and the team they've assembled at Second Dinner have made some of the greatest games in history".
