Get Vaccinated Now Before Flu Season Peaks

To receive a free flu vaccine, please visit the Metro Health immunization clinics located at 210 N. Mel Waiters Way, from 8 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Eighty-five per cent of children admitted to intensive care because of the flu are under the age of 10, according to the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The 2017/2018 influenza season was considered one of high severity by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), with high rates of emergency department visits and widespread flu activity over an extended period.

While not as early as it did past year, flu season is heating up.
