A source told the Chronicle that it seems like Murray is looking more towards a career in football.

With a report that Oklahoma QB and Heisman Trophy victor Kyler Murray may enter the NFL Draft, the Internet was abuzz with where he might go.

Murray could still opt to be in the A's camp, but the National Football League scouting combine begins February 26.

Entering the draft doesn't necessarily mean that Murray will forgo his commitment to the Athletics, but Slusser and Schulman report that one source indicated to them that Murray is indeed leaning toward selecting football as his profession rather than baseball. Murray would have to return his signing bonus to Oakland if he does not play for the club.

Jets To Hire Adam Gase As Next Head Coach
They likely are interested in him with the hope he could groom quarterback Sam Darnold the same way he did with Aaron Rodgers. The Cincinnati Bengals and the Dolphins remain the only teams yet to name their head coach for the 2019 season.

Murray went out and helped the Sooners put up 51 on Kingsbury's Texas Tech squad while throwing for 360 yards and three touchdowns while also running for 100 yards and a touchdown on the way to the Heisman Trophy. Some pundits have him as a possible first-round pick. "All I know is Kyler has a tremendous opportunity to be a great baseball player and he knows that".

I'm sure when Kliff Kingsbury was heaping praise upon Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray back in October of a year ago, he wasn't planning on being the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals just a few months later. But realistically, it's unlikely Kingsbury would take Murray with the top pick, no matter how big of a freak he is.

"He'll be a first round pick", said one GM in a text to Mike Florio. The Cardinals traded up to the 10th pick in the 2018 draft to nab Rosen, who had all the makings of a top quarterback but slipped in part because of his outspoken nature. Kingsbury was sacked by Texas Tech after three straight losing seasons, and he was hired as the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals, who just so happen to have the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft.
