And now that CES is over we have a report about this year's new iPhone series that seems to confirm the earlier leak, providing additional details about the iPhone XS and XR successors.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Apple will continue with the three iPhone models release in 2019, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Cupertino, Calif. -based company has chose to stick to liquid-crystal display (LCD) at a time when sluggish sales of iPhone XR cut into its most recent revenue projection, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

The report adds that the cheapest model will stick with an LCD screen, while the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max will of course use OLED, just like the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.

The lower end models will each have dual camera lenses, an update for the XR successor. While the XR's successor is said to retain the LCD display of the 2018 model, the 2019 XR will reportedly get the dual-lens camera system that is now only found on the iPhone XS series.

Looking ahead to 2020, Apple apparently might ditch LCD altogether. Cook, in a letter to the investors, announced that Apple was cutting the quarterly revenue for the final fiscal quarter for 2018.

Last month, Bloomberg reported that the company was-and still is-facing a "fire drill" to boost sales from shareholders, which prompted Apple to aggressively release its discounted iPhone XR model in October, which runs about $300 less its regular model.

Two major Chinese retailers have slashed prices on Apple Inc.'s latest iPhones, an unusual move that underscores how demand for the marquee device is flagging in the world's largest smartphone market.

Apple is expected to launch its 2019 smartphones this fall. Next year, the report notes, all new iPhones will feature OLED screens.
