Jose Mourinho rules himself out of Benfica job

Mourinho said he was happy at being linked with a return, but prefers not to be talked about in public about when out of work.

Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is free of any lingering contractual obligations from his former club and is now free to join another club, according to reports.

The source explained that Real sounded out Mourinho prior to Solari's hiring, with the Portuguese boss stating his commitment to his job at Old Trafford.

Mourinho is sure to have plenty to say about the game featuring another of his former clubs, as well as a team he has not held in the highest esteem during his time in English football.

His record speaks for itself and various new job opportunities have been mooted since he became available to take charge at a new club.

Real Madrid, who the Portuguese coached from 2010-2013, have been heavily linked with a move to bring Mourinho back to the Bernabeu.
