Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson - arguably the Reds' two shining defensive beacons - have managed to stay fit all season, while Trent Alexander-Arnold has only missed a couple of games through injury, and that trio should start for Liverpool in their Premier League match with Brighton & Hove Albion later today.

Matip, who has been out since the beginning of December with a broken collar bone, is back in full training again and could feature at the Amex Stadium.

Matip is making progress in his recovery and, like Lovren, could be back to face Crystal Palace next weekend.

Brighton is unbeaten in its last three games in all competitions and is trying to mount a four-game unbeaten run for the first time since January to March 2018.
