Not to mention, a new report indicated not all Yankees executives were on board with the idea of bringing Machado to The Bronx.

The New York Yankees appeared to withdraw consideration for Machado's services when they reportedly agreed to terms with veteran infielder DJ LeMahieu.

There's been noise this week that the Yankees are less aggressively after Manny Machado than anticipated.

A team like the Milwaukee Brewers, connected to Machado at last year's trade deadline, could make sense, as could the St. Louis Cardinals. The deal is expected to be "in the $24 million range", per The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

Of course, Machado's camp could also be using the mystery team as potential leverage in an effort to push the Phillies and White Sox to up their offers to Machado.

Machado's market has yet to develop as he likely hoped it would, with teams becoming more and more cautious towards big-ticket free agents.

Machado is said to be seeking somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 million, and there has been no indication that the Yankees are willing to go that high.

Late last night we learned that the Phillies added Machado's former infield coach. The White Sox have all but gathered Machado's Miami training buddies by signing Jay and landing Machado's brother-in-law Yonder Alonso, so who's to say the Phils' addition of Dickerson isn't a similar ploy to catch one of free agency's biggest fish?

It does at least seem possible, even as the Yankees should have perverse amounts of money to spend, especially on a 26-year-old star like Machado who could fit with their club seamlessly for a decade.
