A Democratic "campaign veteran" told the Daily News that "it's not a great look" for Ocasio-Cortez.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already making enemies in the House Democratic Caucus - and some of its members are mounting an operation to bring the anti-establishment, democratic socialist with 2.2 million Twitter followers into the fold.

"I'm sure Ms. Cortez means well, but there's nearly an outstanding rule: Don't attack your own people", Representative Emmanuel Cleaver (D., Mo.) told Politico.

Some Ways and Means Committee Democrats said that the focus should be on holding hearings looking at the tax code following the enactment of Trump's tax law, rather than pursuing Ocasio-Cortez's idea.

Ocascio-Cortez previously responded to Lieberman's statement, writing on Twitter, "New party, who dis?". "There's a difference between being an activist and a lawmaker in Congress". Rank and file are peeved that there's a grassroots movement to try to win her a top committee post they feel she doesn't deserve.

Politico reported on the effort to rein in Ocasio-Cortez, described by some 20 Democrat lawmakers and aides as "part carrot, part stick: Some lawmakers with ties to Ocasio-Cortez are hoping to coax her into using her star power to unite Democrats and turn her fire on Republicans".

The assignment, which lawmakers say they expect her to receive, might pit the 29-year-old politician not only against banks - a major local industry in her state, but also potentially against business-friendly Democrats who have backed financial deregulation. "This is basic stuff, especially if you hold yourself out to be the champion of workers". "People want to see results".

"She's new here, feeling her way around", said Representative Kurt Schrader (D., Ore.).

"People are going to have to start paying their fair share of taxes", she said.

Now, Democratic members of Congress are saying they're done with her "sniping" at their own party and aren't sure if her career in Congress will go too well if she keeps up the criticism.
