Michelle Obama shares text exchange with mom from Grammys night

Obama joined host Alicia Keys on stage at the beginning of Sunday's award show, along with Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Michelle shared screenshots of her conversation with her mother, Marian Shields Robinson, on Instagram and wrote: "When your mom doesn't think you're a "real" celebrity..."

That even applies to someone like Michelle Obama, former First Lady and all-around powerful role model and activist, political icon, best-selling author, mother, and wife.

"I guess you were a hit at the Grammys", the first text from Robinson read.

So while the audience in attendance cheered Obama as she spoke and applauded after she had finished, her mother was more interested in whether her daughter had met any "real celebrity" at the event!

Turns out, Obama's famously low-key mum nearly forgot she was on the show at all and was more interested in hearing about whether she met any "real stars".
