The new phone will be the vanguard of Google's efforts to expand its hardware business.

It's too early to talk about the Pixel 4 flagship phone that Google will likely launch sometime in the fourth quarter this year, but sources said to be familiar with the matter have revealed Google's hardware plans for 2019, which unsurprisingly include a bunch of new devices.

Google is not a new player in the hardware market.

The company is expected to launch a wide range of new devices, including new smartphones, smart speakers, and security cameras later this year, according to Japanese publication Nikkei.

Interestingly, the second-place victor is the Google Pixel 3 XL Lite, with 26 percent of the vote.

The company will purportedly not be abandoning its premium line and will launch premium variants of the Google Pixel 4 as normal.

Pixel 3 Lite purportedly has the same 5.5-inch screen size as the Pixel 3, but will carry a lower resolution 2,220 x 1,080 IPS panel compared to the FHD+ OLED on the latter.

IPhone sales are tanking in China because Apple's charging too much
Its shipments plummeted nearly 35% because of inventory corrections and an internal restructuring, IDC said. In China, Apple reported revenue of $13.1 billion, down sharply from $17.9 billion the earlier year.

Diana Ross Rocks Back to Vegas for Her Milestone Birthday
She talked to the crowd throughout the performance and ended it by twice declaring, "Happy birthday to me!" As hard as this may be to believe, Ross has only taken home one Grammy in her decades-long career - the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Apple's struggle in the premium segment and Google's comparatively lackluster Pixel smartphone sales are cited as direct reasons for the decision to push forward with the products.

Google Pixel 3 was announced back in October and presented Android fans with a number of notable improvements from its predecessor.

In terms of design, the Google Pixel 3 Lite looks to be much closer to the Pixel 3 than the Pixel 3 XL.

Google allegedly isn't stopping at a new Pixel-branded smartwatch and "Lite" smartphone to drive up the use of the Google product and service ecosystems, either.

Google Home will also see an update according to the report. It's possible this could be accompanied with a rebranding effort making it more overtly Googly (i.e., "Nest by Google", etc.) but that wouldn't have to be the case for the report to be correct. Moreover, it's unconfirmed whether it will come with a wholly new smart speaker or will be an updated version of the old Home products. While we've figured Google had some first-party smartwatch in the works since a job listing went up last week, Nikkei's report seems to indicate there's more than one on the way, or at least being worked on.

Google's hardware plans will become clearer as we move further into 2019.
