The Oscars fever will grip the world on Monday (India time), March 3, as the 97th Academy Awards is set to take place in Hollywood, California, United States. Cinephiles around the world are eager to watch the live event, as Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or winner Anora, Edward Berger’s Vatican thriller Conclave, and Brady Corbet’s post-war epic The Brutalist, among other titles, are set to battle it out in under 23 categories.
Without further adieu, here are the answers to when, where and how to watch the 97th Academy Awards:
Who is hosting the awards this year?
Coco! Popular television host and comedian Conan O’Brien will host the Oscars for the first time ever. Known for his quick wit, Conan is a household name on TV, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us. Surely, Andy Richter might appear in a sketch or two, but an appearance by Jordan Schlansky would be something to look out for.

Where is it happening?
Since the inaugural edition in 1929, the Oscars has been presented in almost a dozen venues, from a banquet at The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel to the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Los Angeles County Music Center. Since 2001, the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has been handing out its celebrated awards at the Dolby Theatre, in California. The auditorium is a state-of-the-art facility that can house up to 3,332 people.
When is it happening?
Fans from India might have to keep their Sunday night short this week, as the 97th Academy Awards is set to go live on Monday, March 3, at 5:30 AM IST. The show typically takes around three and a half hours (bonus trivia: the inaugural edition in 1929 lasted for 15 minutes, while in 2002 it went on for four hours and twenty three minutes!).

How to watch the 97th Academy Awards?
In India, the ceremony will stream live on Star Movies as well as on JioHotstar. If you missed a category or two, do not worry, for viewers can watch the full ceremony even after the live broadcast on JioHotstar.
Who are the nominees?
Emilia Perez leads the pack with a record-breaking 13 nominations, the most ever for a non-English language film. The Spanish-language musical made history with Karla Sofia Gascon becoming the first transgender woman nominated for an acting Oscar. Meanwhile, Brazil’s I’m Still Here bagged a surprising Best Picture nod, making it the only other non-English language film competing in the category this year.
Other top contenders include The Brutalist, a period drama with 11 nominations including Best Picture and Best Director, and Wicked, the movie adaptation of the hit musical, which received 10 nominations including nods for its stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Conclave, a historical drama, and A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic, each have secured 9 nominations.
