Aamir Khan recently spoke about the emotional toll of his last two films, Thugs of Hindostan and Laal Singh Chaddha, both of which failed at the box office. While he admitted that Thugs of Hindostan did not meet expectations, it was Laal Singh Chaddha that affected him the most, pushing him into a depressive phase for weeks.

Speaking at an ABP event, Aamir shared how deeply personal the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha was for him. “I was very sad. I am a very emotional person,” he said. “When one of my films doesn’t perform well, I go into depression and cry for two to three weeks. It’s important to mourn.”
The actor acknowledged that his performance in Laal Singh Chaddha may not have translated well on screen. “That film relied completely on the lead actor’s performance. Remember how great a job Tom Hanks did in the original? He just took you on a ride. I wasn’t able to do that.”

Despite his disappointment, Aamir seems to value his failures as learning experiences. After the initial grief, he gathers his team to analyse what went wrong. “I really value my failures and go deep into them, trying to understand what all went wrong,” he explained.
He also credited his family for helping him through the difficult period, noting how his children, ex-wives Reena Dutta and Kiran Rao, and his mother frequently checked in on him.
Aamir is now working on Sitaare Zameen Par, the sequel to his 2007 hit, Taare Zameen Par.
