Appu, the debut film of Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar, is set for a re-release. The 2002 blockbuster film will release as a part of Puneeth’s 50th birth anniversary celebrations.

Directed by ace Telugu filmmaker Puri Jagannath, Appu was produced by Puneeth Rajkumar’s mother and veteran producer Parvathamma Rajkumar under the banner Poornima Enterprises. The film will re-release in theatres on March 14, 2025.
Puneeth Rajkumar’s 50th birth anniversary falls on March 17, 2025. The popular actor passed away on October 29, 2021, due to massive cardiac arrest.

The film also stars Rakshita, Avinash and Hemashree. Fans of the stars began to call him Appu after the massive success of the movie. Gurukiran composed the music for Appu. The film is an action-packed campus drama known for its hit songs.
Appu was remade in Telugu as Idiot (2022), Tamilas Dum (2003) and Bengali as Hero (2006) In 2024, Puneeth Rajkumar’s action drama Jackie was re-released. Directed by Suri, the movie had first hit the screens in 2010.
