Rajinikanth in the title reveal teaser of ‘Coolie’

The makers of Coolie, starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, have announced the film’s release date. Sun Pictures, the production house behind the film, took to social media to share the news.
Sun Pictures confirmed the release date with a poster. Coolie, Rajinikanth’s 171st film, will hit theatres on August 14.
The stellar cast of Coolie includes Kannada star Upendra, Telugu superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna, Malayalam’s Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and Shruti Haasan. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran.
Lokesh has confirmed that Coolie will not be part of his popular film universe called the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, which includes movies such as Kaithi, Vikram and Leo. Anirudh Ravichander will compose music for the movie while Girish Gangadharan is the cinematographer. Anbariv Masters will do the stunt choreography.

In April 2024, the makers revealed the film’s title with a special video featuring Rajinikanth. In the video, the superstar utters a famous dialogue from his 1982 film Ranga. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth is also working for Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster film directed by Nelson. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film will have music from Anirudh Ravichander.
