Deb Mukherjee, a veteran actor and the father of filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, passed away at the age of 83 on Friday. According to reports, he was suffering from age-released health issues.
The actor, who began his career in 1965, acted in over a dozen films like Adhikar, Ek Bar Mooskura Do, Do Aankhen, Main Tulsi Tere Aangan Ki, Baaton Baaton Mein and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander.
An integral part of the famous Mukherjee-Samarth family, Deb Mukherjee was the son of Sashadhar Mukherjee, Filmalaya studios owner, and Satidevi Mukherjee, sister of Ashok Kumar, Anup Kumar and Kishore Kumar.

Mukherjee’s funeral is set to take place at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu, Mumbai, this evening. Several members of his extended family are expected to attend the funeral, including actors and his nieces, Rani Mukerji, Sharbani Mukherjee, Tanisha and Kajol; son-in-law and director Ashutosh Gowariker; and friends of his son, filmmaker Ayan Mukerji, including Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
Earlier today, several videos showed Alia and Ranbir, who headlined Ayan’s Brahmastra, returning to Mumbai to attend the funeral. The star couple were in Alibaug to celebrate Alia’s 32nd birthday on Saturday.
