History repeated itself at the 2025 Academy Awards held at Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Hollywood actors Halle Berry and Adrien Brody recreated their iconic on-stage kiss from 2003 on the red carpet.
Brody was talking to journalists on the red carpet as he was accosted by Berry who embraced him and the duo proceeded to kiss on the red carpet. The Academy’s official social media shared the moment and called it, “A reunion 22 years in the making.”

The two actors kissed on the Oscars stage at the same venue back in 2003. Interestingly, Brody went on to win an Oscar for Roman Polanski’s The Pianist back in 2003 and the actor also won his second-ever Oscar at the 97th Academy Awards today for his performance as a Holocaust survivor in Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist.
Back in 2003, Berry presented Brody with the best actor statuette and when Brody took to the stage to accept the award, he embraced Berry, kissing her and said “I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag.”
Berry also recently congratulated Brody on his Golden Globe win for The Brutalist via social media. “Congratulations my friend,” Berry commented on Brody’s Instagram post. “You are truly one of one!”
In the recent award ceremony, while receiving the award, Brody showed gratitude and appeared emotional, stating that he wished for a “more inclusive world.”

Brody started his speech at the Oscars talking about the fragility of a career in the acting business. “Acting is a fragile profession. It looks very glamorous, and in certain moments it is, but the one thing that I have gained, having the privilege to come back here, is to have some perspective. And… no matter where you are in your career, no matter what you have accomplished, it can all go away. And I think what makes this night most special is the awareness of that and the gratitude I have to still do the work that I love.”
The star called his win a chance to begin again, “and to have the opportunity to hopefully be fortune enough for the next 20 years of my life that I can prove that I am worthy of such important, relevant roles. I share this with my fellow nominees who are just wonderful human beings who exude gracce, goodness and brilliance.”
