Raj R, the writer and director of the acclaimed Telugu film Malleshamand the Hindi film 8 A.M. Metro is ready with his new film titled 23.
The film was formally announced and the first look poster was unveiled by Bhatti Vikramarka, the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, in Hyderabad on Monday. The film is backed by actor-producer Rana Daggubati’s company, Spirit Media.
According to the makers, 23 is inspired by true events and weaves together multiple storylines to explore the complex and often conflicting nature of justice. Teja and Tanmayee play the lead roles in 23, produced by Studio 99, with Venkat Siddareddy as the executive producer. The film will be distributed by Spirit Media. The film cinematography by Sunny Kurapati and music by Mark K Robin.
The first-look poster reveals a bus engulfed in flames, with people desperately scurrying for safety. The poster also shows individuals tied up in gunny bags. George Orwell’s famous quote, “All are equal, but some are more equal than others,” along with the movie’s tagline in Telugu — “Mana samajamlo chattam andarikee samanamgaa Varthisthundaa..?” (does the law apply equally to everyone in our society?) catches intrigue.
23 is said to be more than a social commentary. It is also pitched as a love story that explores themes of repentance and redemption.
The film’s release date is to be announced soon.
