Director Wes Anderson is back, and this time, it’s with the espionage black comedy film The Phoenician Scheme, which he has written alongside his usual co-writer Roman Coppola. The makers of the film shared its trailer earlier today.
Set to the iconic style of Anderson, the trailer introduces us to Benicio del Toro as Zsa-zsa Korda, one of the richest men in Europe; Mia Threapleton as Liesl, his daughter/a nun; and Michael Cera as Bjorn, their tutor. It also gives a glimpse of its star-studded cast, which includes Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend and Hope Davis.
An international co-production between the United States and Germany, The Phoenician Scheme is produced under Studio Babelsberg as well as Anderson through his company American Empirical Pictures and Steven Rales through his company Indian Paintbrush.

With cinematography by Bruno Delbonnel, Anderson’s regular composer Alexandre Desplat, returns to compose the score. The film is scheduled to release in the United States on May 30, 2025.
