Singer Udit Narayan has finally addressed the viral controversy surrounding his kissing video — but with humour. Speaking at the promotional event for Shiv Hare’s upcoming film Pintu Ki Pappi, starring choreographer Ganesh Acharya, Narayan took a dig at the situation.

A video from the event, shared by a paparazzo, shows Narayan joking about the film’s title. He told Ganesh on stage, “Title toh change kar dena chahiye aapko. Pintu Ki Pappi is fine, but what about ‘Udit ki Pappi’? It’s just a coincidence that this film is releasing now while my video is going viral.” He also clarified that the video was actually from two years ago during a concert in Australia.
Last month, Narayan found himself in the spotlight after a video surfaced of him kissing female fans during a concert. While some criticised him, the veteran singer defended his actions, calling it an expression of love between him and his fans. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he said, “There is a deep, pure, and unbreakable bond between my fans and me. What you saw in the so-called scandalous video was a manifestation of that love.”

Asked if he felt any regret, Narayan dismissed the criticism. “Why should I be ashamed? My heart is pure. If some people want to see something dirty in my act of affection, then I feel sorry for them,” he said.
Actress and singer Kunickaa Sadanand also defended Narayan, arguing that the controversy was being used to sabotage his chances of receiving the Padma Bhushan award.
